What’s your latest business obsession?

There are quite a few things that every successful entrepreneur can never have too much of. Find out what lines my path to business bliss.

1. Hours in the day.

People (non-entrepreneurs) often ask me, “Are you done for the day?” This question is usually followed by a silent pause and look of bewilderment on my face. I’m not sure that an entrepreneur is every actually “done for the day.” There’s always something we could be doing to move business forward, but at some point in each day you have to stop cheating with your startup and indulge in some well-deserved work-life balance.

2. Happy customers.

Can you ever have too many customers? I don’t think so. But the caveat is simple: make sure they’re the “right” customers. Don’t hesitate to spend eighty-percent of your marketing activities on delivering ultimate value and benefits to the faithful twenty percent that drive a majority of your sales. Develop a basic incentive program to reward loyalty and nurture your relationship.

3. Strategic and profitable business connections.

Connections are great to have. But is the present or future-value of your network actually valuable? If your network is not working don’t hesitate to start fresh and build mutually beneficial business relationships. Sow a seed and start with what you can offer someone, whether it is tangible or intangible. As your focus shifts to value-creation your “fish tank” will suddenly become a wide open sea of possibility.
