Content Marketing: 3 Big ‘Business’ Benefits of Guest Blogging

How can small business owners use guest blogging to increase brand visibility and build a business? Let's get to it!

If there is one thing I know to be true about starting and growing your own business, it’s this: you can never rank too high in Google, have too many eyeballs on your company website, serve too many customers, or make too much money.

Yet, another thing I have learned through becoming a small business owner is that none of those things ever come easy. Unless … you know how to get your company name, company website, and your business brand in front of your target customer’s eyes.

Fortunately, there is an easy way to accomplish this feat, and it can make all of the difference in the world as it pertains to the visibility of your brand.

What is this fantastic thing?

Guest blogging.

Guest Blogging for Business Owners

I know, it’s not nearly as sexy as, author and entrepreneur, Tim Ferris spotlighting your business as his new favorite productivity hack, or a large publication begging you for an interview, but it’s mad effective and best of all, it’s free!

So, how can you use guest blogging to increase your brand’s visibility, and build your business? Let’s get to it!

Oh, but wait!

Some of you may be wondering, “What the heck is guest blogging?”

Oh right, I guess you may want a little background into what this marketing strategy is really all about before you devote your time and energy to it. Well, simply put, guest blogging is merely the act of writing content for another website in the interest of gaining a link back to your own website. Essentially, guest blogging is what you are reading this very minute.

But it’s not just about the links. Oh no! It’s so much more than that. In fact, guest blogging, or contributing articles, can single-handedly boost website traffic, grow your email marketing list, and contribute to direct sales. “How?” you may ask. Grab a pen and paper — your tablet or smartphone — and get ready!

1. Saunter Your Way Onto Google: Page One

Ah! Page one of Google search results; the coveted piece of Internet real estate that will not only bring you thousands of visits per month, but will garner sales just by appearing there. Now this is, hands down, my favorite reason for guest blogging. It is also the main reason I have used it to appear on over 150 websites to promote my skincare website—because it works … well!

But why does guest blogging work so well?

Guest blogging is one of the easiest ways to drive high quality, permanent links to your company website without irritating Google and being cast off to the barren depths of page two and beyond. You can also manipulate these links within your guest posts with different anchor text to rank for specific keywords in your industry: ultimately targeting a potential customer that is already searching for precisely what you are selling.

Just make sure you conduct proper research and pick keywords that flow in an author bio. For example, instead of using the keyword “iPhone apps online buy” use a keyword such as “buy iPhone apps online”. It’s a subtle tweak, but one that could make all the difference.
