Content Marketing: 5 Ways to Consistently Create Quality Content

How to create quality content that both your customers and high-profile media outlets would approve.

When it comes to driving more traffic to your company website, you’ll want to produce and distribute great content that is consumed and shared daily. Creating content that makes your current and prospective customers want to read more takes creativity.

Using these five tips, you can craft quality content that both your customers and high-profile media outlets would approve:

  1. Talk about your audience

People like to focus on themselves, so when online publications mention another company or website, they will always drop incoming links back to the website. “White hat” backlinking strategies are one of the foundational elements for a successful SEO program.  Because [a backlink] is such a critical component of SEO programs, the accuracy and volume of backlink data is of the utmost importance.” (Source: BrightEdge)

Readers visit their favorite websites to stay informed and to develop personally and professionally. For example, if you’re sharing content on how introverts can shine at work, it speaks directly to your audience in an authentic way, since many professionals can identify with being introverted. When you talk about your audience’s issues, they will listen.

  2. Debunk common myths

Everyone enjoys an article that makes him or her re-think a popular trend, concept or idea. There are many societal guidelines that people will follow without questioning them. That includes ideas about careers and education that seem to place people on a lucrative path. Questioning some of these choices may even seem wrong. For example, when readers learn that not all high profile occupations are what they seem, it can make for an interesting debate.

For instance, some may find it shocking that a lawyer ended up with $350,000 in debt and near poverty-level income, as Forbes contributor Laura Shin explores. Many wouldn’t imagine that a lawyer would go into that much debt and have such an incredibly low annual income.

  3. Discuss a popular trend

These days, trends can come and go quickly. It can feel as if a trend makes an appearance out of thin air. By the next week, everyone knows about it and is referencing it in a blog post, social media message and video online. Creating an article that discusses a particular trend can make it incredibly popular if it’s written well. One article, challenging the naysayers, discusses the ALS challenge that hit the summer by storm in 2014. Everywhere you looked, you would see a celebrity pouring a bucket of water on their head to encourage others to raise money for the charity. Some people had problems with this tactic, while others loved it.

  4. Inspire others

Information-based websites are exploding with news. Although many people want to stay on top of breaking headlines, they also need a break from it. This is why it’s important to create evergreen content that can uplift your target audience. It’s also a way to encourage them to share content with their network.

When you inspire others it appeals to a larger segment of your audience. For instance, Forbes contributor Kevin Kruse suggests, “Inspirational quotes and motivational quotes have the power to get us through a bad week, and can even  give us the courage to pursue our life’s dreams.”

  5. Debate technology

The sheer number of technological devices available on the market can be overwhelming for most people. It seems there’s something new every time you look around. More importantly, technology impacts everyone’s life in various ways and it’s a topic that most people find of interest. Debating about the best technological devices, applicable to your industry and/or customer needs, can be a great way to get people buzzing about your insight and your brand.

Creating content that is informative and engaging is an important part of a thriving marketing strategy. Include these techniques and you’ll find that more people are ready and willing to engage with your brand.
