Growing your blog’s audience requires patience and dedication, but the benefits cannot be understated. With a perpetually growing readership that shares content, exposes a blog’s brand and makes monetary avenues very realistic, a blog can actively support business your business goals.

Great, original content should be priority. Beyond that, here’s a look at five tips that have proven successful for many bloggers and brands who started out small but grew their blogs into a top-tier presence and source of niche expertise.

  1. Become an outspoken niche leader.

Growing an audience requires tapping into communities that have not yet discovered your brand. To grab attention, become an active participant in online communities relevant to your niche, including Twitter and forums. On Twitter, it’s easy to find users with certain interests by searching for hashtags. Then naturally share topic relevant information while linking to a corresponding blog post and asking for readers’ thoughts.

On Web forums, integrate your presence into the community, without being blatantly self-promotional. Including a link to your personal or company blog in a forum signature is fine, but posting links everywhere will result in a ban. Instead, slip in a relevant blog post every few dozen forum posts. Eventually, forum users will become accustomed to you sharing interesting and relevant content.

Twitter and online forums are great platforms to target communities that, when provided with relevant information, will become part of a blog’s new readership.

  2. Create graphic quotes and designs.

Praise-worthy quotes from respectable industry figures are a great way to immediately grow a solid reputation, reducing bounce rate and help grow your audience. For example, Canva is an easy-to-use design program for creating graphic backdrops with quotes. Even more, Canva can be utilized for cross-platform post promotion, enabling you to create unique eye-catching graphics that can be used to amplify blog content via social media.

  3. Select links carefully.

Placing links strategically in blog posts can boost SEO ranking significantly, but not just any random link is beneficial. To accomplish this, it’s important to link to respectable sites with relevant content and an active promotional team and social media presence. A blog that receives an initial inbound link will often reciprocate by linking back; creating a mutually beneficial cross-linking opportunity.

  4. Incorporate recent news and trends.

Savvy content marketers use recent industry news to their advantage, injecting its relevance into company blog posts and simultaneously positioning their brand to engage new readers with a timely topic. Using a news topic is also a great way to constantly create new and engaging blog content.

  5. Increase engagement with contests and giveaways.

There are many businesses that are open to providing products and services for free in exchange for promotion. One commonly utilized and mutually beneficial way to do this is via co-branded contests and giveaways, where a business provides free product to readers – usually in exchange for promotion. This raises awareness of the product while resulting in more website traffic for your blog.

In addition to frequent and original content, the five tips above should significantly boost your blog audience.
