Best Success Story

I think Kiip’s rapid-fire growth has been our biggest success. We recently partnered with Guinness World Records to bring mobile gamers the opportunity to win that ultimate reward of being a world record holder.

This was hot on the heels of our partnership with Verizon Wireless, which brings Kiip to a large group of developers who can now integrate our technology into their games. It’s all about making achievements even more rewarding, and bringing the ability to do so to more and more people.

Biggest Startup Challenge

Our biggest challenge has been the fact that with Kiip, we’ve created an entirely new category of achievement-based rewards. Creating and defining this category, which isn’t necessarily advertising — as well as trying to convey how it fits in with existing customer acquisition offerings — has been challenging in that we have had to demonstrate the value of our model to the brands, advertisers and game developers who have grown accustomed to, and at times shied away from, intrusive advertising on mobile platforms.

Our model and our rewards are based on the natural flow of game play, and we’ve proven to our partners that this moments-based model is not only viable, but also logical and organic. The partnerships we’ve developed and the great brands that we work with — including PopChips, Sephora, Sony, Best Buy, 1-800-FLOWERS, Dr. Pepper and Carl’s Jr., among many others — are a testament to the success of this new marketing category that we’ve created.

#1 Tip for Entrepreneurs

My number one tip for entrepreneurs is to remember that you are the most powerful force in your own life. It’s up to you to trust in your ideas and take the initiative to pursue them.

It’s also up to you to recognize when an opportunity presents itself to you — often masquerading as failure — and quickly grab it and make the best of it. In this way, you are in control of your own life. It’s up to you to live it, take risks and make mistakes while you’re still young — or young at heart.
