How I Got Started

For two years I managed the PR and marketing department for a fashion jewelry company. I worked closely with all the major celebrity weeklies and monthly glossies and had great success with editorial placement. At the same time, I was in graduate school pursuing a Communications degree and ended up doing my thesis on fashion PR.

I created PR Couture because I was really enjoying my job and had also found hardly anything online about the fashion PR while completing school research. At the time there was a lack of credible, honest, and engaging online discussion on fashion public relations.

I spent one weekend getting everything set up. I launched using my basic web skills and had a friend who is an illustrator by trade, design the logo. From there, I set up some Google Alerts, started writing … and PR Couture made its debut.

Today, we have grown to define our role as an online resource for successful, emerging and aspiring fashion publicists, designers, students, and educators. PR Couture shares tips, tricks, challenges, and commentary about the role of public relations in the fashion industry. Many publicists are trained to stay in the background, but PR Couture provides a unique place for recognition, inspiration and celebration of the profession.
