Entrepreneurs Are the Happiest: Study

“Despite working longer hours and having less time off, business owners are 50 per cent more satisfied with their jobs than those who work for others, according to a new study. While business owners spend nearly twice as much time as employees thinking of work when outside the office, they are also three times more likely to report satisfaction with their jobs, the study found.” (The Economic Times)

What Drives the Best Entrepreneurs? Hint: It’s Not Money

“The Exit…that elusive pot of gold at the end of the entrepreneurial rainbow.  Whether by acquisition or IPO, the exit ranks as priority number one for investors and, with the increasing trendiness of running a  “startup”, many aspiring entrepreneurs.  The phenomenal success and celebritization of Silicon Valley tech entrepreneurs like Zuckerberg, Dorsey, Page, Brin, and others has created a wave of would-be startup billionaires dreaming of Gulfstreams and Maybachs.” (Forbes)

Global Startup Success Doesn’t Require Silicon Valley: oDesk, Etsy

“Australian entrepreneurs have been shown to seek smaller markets than their counterparts in Silicon Valley, possibly as a method of compensating for the smaller scale of local tech activity. But according to two startups that have “made it”, if startups aim for a global market, it doesn’t matter where they start; they can be just as successful. [For example] ODesk CEO Gary Swart has built a business around the belief that more and more markets are seeing past geographical boundaries by using technology as a bridge.” (ZDNet)

Yes, You Can Still Have a Love Life

“When starting a business, managing a relationship with a significant other can be tough. Entrepreneurs often need to work long hours, weekends and holidays. They may have to travel unexpectedly and answer calls in the middle of the night. That kind of dedication—combined with the emotional highs and lows commonly associated with starting a business—can take a toll on an entrepreneur’s love life.” (Wall Street Journal)

Crowdfunding Platform Connects Entrepreneurs With Consumer-Product Giants

“If you are growing a skin care business, networking with execs at consumer products giants could open some valuable doors. But how to make those connections? A new partnership between niche crowd-funding platform CircleUp and Procter & Gamble could help entrepreneurs build those links… Entrepreneurs raising money on San Francisco-based CircleUp, which targets midlevel food, health-and-wellness and apparel businesses, get access to P&G business experts to learn about topics like building their brand and growing their supply chain…” (Terra)
