Can one weekend change your life and your business? It did for University of Southern California students — Anna Sergeeva, Fei Xiao, and Grady Laksmono.
Last year, the three young co-founders attended a local Startup Weekend in Los Angeles and walked away with a full-fledged startup – trueRSVP, an online platform that helps event planners save money, find & reward loyal attendees, and decrease stress on the event date.
The young co-founders claim their platform is virtually ‘flake-proof’ due to the metrics provided in the form of ‘real-time’ estimates that indicate how many people will actually attend an event. trueRSVP’s online application uses priority invites, algorithms, and mobile apps to take the guesswork out of event attendee projections.
And with the help of venture acceleration program OrganicStartup, trueRSVP made its debut at DEMO Fall 2011 and picked up a few industry accolades along the way.
Learn how Anna, Fei and Grady launched their startup in less than 54 hours and why you should, “just do it.”

How We Got Started:
Inspired by our first entrepreneurship class, Fei & I (Anna) started scheming up possible business ideas on a weekly basis, but nothing stuck. In February of last year, we stumbled upon an awesome event called Startup Weekend in LA — a 54 hour startup event that provides the networking, resources, and incentives for individuals and teams to go from idea to launch. That’s where we pitched and built the first iteration of trueRSVP, previously named GoAct.co – a Kickstarter for volunteering events.
