Challenge: 6 Ways to Celebrate National Small Business Week Locally

Here are 6 simple ways every entrepreneur can celebrate national small business week in their local communities.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) celebrates National Small Business Week, May 20-26, as a time to recognize the big contributions made by small businesses.

The National Small Business Week Conference, hosted by the Small Business Administration, has been recognizing the special impact made by outstanding American entrepreneurs and small business owners since 1963. And while you may not be in Washington, DC to take part in the festivities you can bring the small business party to your local community.

Here are 6 simple ways every entrepreneur can celebrate national small business week in their local communities.

1. Get out and connect.

Get out of your office or local coffee shop and go meet some other entrepreneurs. Take an interest in someone else’s business this week. Meet and connect with other leaders in your small business community. Grow your business network and get inspired!

2. Reward your employees.

Let your teams cut out an hour early, go hangout at a local bar and grill or give them a special reward for a job well done. “Small businesses with less than 100 employees represent 99% of all U.S. employers.” One simple act of gratitude can create a ripple affect across the country.

3. Give back to customers.

Launch a customer appreciation promotion in honor of National Small Business week. Not only will you encourage customers to shop small, but you can test your offer’s appeal, coupon redemption rates and marketing effectiveness.
