9 Straightforward Ways to Improve Social Media Content Engagement

Checkout several lessons we’ve learned while growing our social media following at YFS Magazine.

6. Reward social media followers.

We’ve instituted a popular way to give back to our loyal social media fans on Facebook – it’s called Networking Friday. Every Friday, we let our fans promote themselves on our official Facebook Page by posting a link to theirs. Most companies consider unsolicited posting from other brands to be social media spam.

So, we wanted to make it easy and “socially correct” by inviting you to promote yourself to thousands of our followers. It’s an invaluable way for fans to increase brand awareness, entice others to “Like” their Facebook page and find out about other cool small businesses. It’s also a simple way for us to give back to readers and increase our brand loyalty. It’s a win-win.

7. Highlight your biggest fans.

From time to time, we showcase our biggest fans. The power of reciprocity is tremendous. Many of the highlights we feature are our very own YFS Magazine Business Contributors – small business leaders that share their insight and lessons learned with our global readership. Like you, they are some of the most revered and successful entrepreneurs in the world.

8. Curate social media content if you don’t yet have your own.

If you haven’t yet developed a social media content strategy for your small business, start by curating industry related content from other reputable sources. Posting links to helpful articles that appeal to your target audience is a great way to gain thought-leadership and create value.

9. Analyze and track social media engagement.

Track and measure the effectiveness of your social media content. Use online tools to measure social media engagement: PageLever for Facebook, Kred and TweetReach for Twitter.
