Best Success Story:

I would say just day in and day out getting new users is obviously very exciting.

One story that comes to mind is [when we learned we] would be featured in Daily Candy National… That was a really exciting press opportunity for us as a pretty young startup (it was like two months after we had launched). I remember waking up super early because I knew; I got my Daily Candy email at 5 am so I was up before the email.

It was super exciting to see our name in that publication because it was the “crème de la crème” at the time. It was one of our highest traffic days ever and it was very targeted in terms of the audience so that was a good day.

Biggest Startup Challenge:

[When I first launched Go Try It On] I was working full-time … and trying to make it work all at the exact same time. I had some savings from another startup I had built so I was using some stuff from that [for startup costs]. But a lot of it was just trying to keep everything low, low cost.

#1 Tip for Entrepreneurs:

Don’t lose sight of the fact that you have to almost wear two hats. You have to be the visionary in thinking three months down the road, five months down the road, a year, two years—but the day to day stuff, like putting in work and effort in small chunks can actually add up to this really big thing. Especially when you’re really early on getting started, I think you don’t realize that a lot of little things can really add up to something big.
