Health conscious consumers realize the importance of nutrition. In fact it is something that Marc Bernstein and his son Brett, founders of Natural Cravings, learned first-hand. The California-based company created in 2007, provides all-natural vending for schools and businesses.

After making major life changes that resulted in Marc shedding 115 lbs, his goal became to make all-natural, healthier eating available to the masses. Soon after, his son Brett Bernstein and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Andrew Flachner joined the Natural Cravings team.

Learn how Natural Cravings carved out a niche in healthy vending and why follow-through is essential for small business success.

Company: Natural Cravings Healthy Vending

Location: Sunnyvale and San Diego, CA
Industry: Food and Beverage
Startup Year: 2007

How We Got Started:

In 2007, my father and I started Natural Cravings in San Diego while I was earning my degree at Cal Poly. He lost 115 pounds and soon learned the importance of eating healthier. What originally started as a side business to encourage change in our Southern California community quickly became a business making a big difference for thousands of kids and adults.

Two years later, in 2009, I moved to the Bay Area after graduation to work at a large tech firm. Andrew Flachner, a friend of mine, learned about our company and we decided to grow the business in Sunnyvale, CA as well. Andrew has been an integral part of our success, with his sharp business acumen and drive.

After a few months of moonlighting Natural Cravings, we took the leap to become full-time entrepreneurs and have since grown the business by more than 100% with the potential of even quicker expansion coming these next six months.
