Need a Business Mentor? Virtual Mentorship Program, #StartupLab May Be the Answer

Virtual business mentorship lab launches to provide access to aspiring and current entrepreneurs.

Have you ever thought, “If only I had a mentor, it would make a world of difference in my business?”

If so, you’re not alone.

Mentorship is a powerful personal development tool that can act as a bridge between more experienced entrepreneurs and those just getting started.

Finding a Business Mentor

Finding the right business mentor can prove to be a pivotal catalyst in your business. Most importantly, mentorship can act as an invaluable guide to help entrepreneurs avoid common pitfalls along the way.

Today, access is available to those who desire to start a new business. Both public and private initiatives can actively contribute to and foster the growth of your company. Government-sponsored organizations such as SCORE, Small Business Development CentersWomen’s Business Centers and Minority Business Development Centers aim to provide advice, resources and tools.

A robust network of trade associations, private programs and individuals, also offer aid to small business owners as they navigate startup challenges. Once such initiative has been enacted by the Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC),  an invite-only nonprofit organization comprised of the country’s most promising young entrepreneurs.

Next Gen Mentorship in a Virtual Lab

The YEC, in collaboration with Citi, aims to provide unprecedented access to business mentorship via the launch of #StartupLab, a free virtual mentorship program that will deploy America’s top young startups to retool the current workforce into a more entrepreneurial one.

The organization endeavors to provide young entrepreneurs with direct access to mentorship through interactive live video chats, how-to content and weekly email lessons. Through #StartupLab initiatives, entrepreneurs, high school and college students can gain access to business leaders that have built profitable and sustainable companies such as Jennifer Fleiss of Rent the Runway, Matt Mickiewicz of 99Designs and many others.

Currently in beta, the #StartupLab program includes four interactive live video chats per month, weekly email lessons, an eBook club, and access to a library of how-to articles and videos.
