There’s this common trait among entrepreneurs and athletes; we are risk takers with a vision that we want to turn into reality.
We are willing to work hard, put in long hours, and invest money (sometimes money that we don’t have) — all for the sake of making our dreams come true. So what do you focus on to gain confidence, create the momentum and get real results?
Focus all of your attention on money making tasks.
Turn ‘heavy lifting’ tasks into purpose-driven work
Like many entrepreneurs, I used to mistakenly think that “hustle” and working hard each day are primary money making tasks that would propel my business forward.
If you’re a new entrepreneur who’s stuck feeling overwhelmed and wondering what to focus on to grow your business, know that “doing a lot” is not necessarily the best strategy to growing your business.
There are actually other business activities that could help you maximize your time, focus on what truly matters, and achieve your desired outcomes.
These activities helped me turn the “heavy lifting” in my business, into purpose driven work that I not only enjoy, but that has also helped me and my clients get results.
Here are 5 tips to move your business forward by mastering your entrepreneurial mindset.
1. Shift from fear to love.
Many people make the mistake of ignoring their fears. When you ignore your fears, they tend to become like a crying baby that will not stop crying until acknowledge and nourished.
Instead of being afraid of your fears, become willing to witness them with detachment. What does that mean?
Ask yourself, “What is this fear trying to tell me?” When we are willing to witness our fears, with the intention of arriving at a new perspective, we begin to create a new reality. You create that new reality by identifying your fears and exchanging them with love. Love for yourself, your vision to make massive impact and those you are meant to serve.
2. Make gratitude your attitude.
In my experience as a psychologist and mindset coach, gratitude is one of the most powerful feelings. Gratitude equals power. Writing out what you’re currently grateful for is one of the easiest ways to shift from a victim mentality.

When we focus on being grateful for how far we’ve come, for the opportunities we’ve had this far, for our abilities to transform our current circumstances, we become unstoppable.
Instead of focusing your attention on what you don’t have, become grateful for what you have right now. Allow your gratitude to turn into excitement and that excitement to be the fuel that leads you to taking consistent action.
3. Get concrete insight.
Develop the skill of consistently seeking clear and concrete insight. Sometimes the answer is not to work harder, but to to change the current strategy you are using.
As we become skillful at determining what’s working and what isn’t, we are able to focus most of our attention on what would actually move our business forward. As my coach Gina DeVee loves to say, “focus on doing less, but better!”
4. Ask for Divine guidance.
Any temporary defeat, is just an opportunity to go for something better. Once we understand that, we begin to see the temporary no as an opportunity to look at the problem from a different angle or perspective.
As Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich, says: “All who succeed in life get off to a bad start, and pass through many heartbreaking struggles before they ‘arrive’. The turning point in the lives of those who succeed usually comes at the moment of some crisis, through which they’re introduced to their ‘other selves’.” Ask for Divine guidance and take action!
5. Think ‘win-win’.
It’s very important that you focus on giving, not just in getting. Begin to see yourself as a gardener. Don’t get discouraged if the seeds you’ve planted yesterday have not yield fruit, yet. Any gardener knows that reaping results or producing fruit takes time.
Focus your attention in adding value to your ideal clients and audience. Find ways to provide support, to meet their needs and begin to stand out in your industry, as someone who truly cares for those you’re serving. Keep it simple. When you give, you receive.
